Positive Behavior Intervention Support Services
PBIS services are provided to participants who have significant behavioral difficulties, and may display inappropriate responses to events in their environment. The PBIS program helps to eliminate or reduce behaviors that interfere with the participant’s ability to remain safely in the community, while teaching more socially appropriate behaviors.

PBIS services include:

A comprehensive assessment of the individual’s behavior in the context of his/her abilities/disabilities and the environment which precipitates the behavior

A detailed behavioral treatment plan which includes a clear description of successive levels of intervention starting with the simplest and least intrusive

Arrangements for training informal supports and non-waiver service providers to effectively use the basic principles of the plan

Regular reassessments of the effectiveness of the plan, and modifying of the plan as needed

An emergency intervention plan when there is the possibility of the participant becoming a threat to him/herself or others.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Psychology/Social Work or approved Human Service Field With at least two years’ experience developing behavioral treatment plans
Position Summary:
Responsible for the implementation of the Positive Behavior Intervention Support Services Program for participants in PBIS program. The Behavior Specialist will assess maladaptive behaviors, design a behavior plan and implement plan. This service works cooperatively with other Waiver providers.
Position Duties
* In conjunction with the Behavior Director, assess individual’s behaviors and develop a structured behavioral intervention plan. The focus of the plan will be person- centered and will focus on teaching socially appropriate behaviors.
*Implement behavioral program by meeting with the designated participants as indicated in their service plan and fulfilling their therapeutic needs.
*Provide training as needed to all individuals involved in carrying out the behavior plan i.e. caregivers, in- home workers, etc.
*Interface with the service coordinator and all other Service Providers to maintain communication regarding the progress of the person in need.
